WindingExpert is an All-in-one software solution developed by Mikrosam that is used for the Pattern Generation of our Filament Winding machines.
The software can generate a mandrel model, which is used to calculate fiber paths and winding patterns. If you wish to check out our software you can purchase a stand-alone or demo license.
Every software from Mikrosam comes with multi-year free upgrade support.
Key Features

Mandrel generation
User can generate four different types of mandrels very easy with entering couple of parameters:
-
- Tube,
- Vessel
- Cone
- Free shape symmetrical mandrels.

Cad and Excel mandrel import
DXF can be imported from dxf file as well as from excel file. The excel file can include the winding angles. Vessel mandrel can also be imported as a dxf file.

User friendly interface
Layers are generated by entering winding parameters and just a few clicks. There is possibility to develop geodesic and non-geodesic winding path. Circumferential (hoop), Helical and Transition layer can be generated. Visualization of winding process with simulation of fibers path and pattern.
Material definition
Material is defined using the fiber density, fiber linear density, fiber tensile strength, resin density, resin tensile strength. There is possibility to select predefined materials with default parameters that can override. Different material can be selected for each layer.

Material Report
Complete material bill, weight, length of fibers, thickness and price of each layer. Can be exported to excel, pdf or text file.

Thickness Report
Graphical representation of the thickness of the layers. Can be exported into FEA like data.

Mandrel volume calculator
According the mandrel dimensions there is possibility to calculate mandrel volume.
Burst pressure calculator
Real time material manipulation. Every layer can have different material. Calculate burst pressure and composite thickness.
Strong postprocessor and automation capabilities.
G Code can be completely edited and customized with user specified machine commands and comments.
G Code import, ISO standard.
Almost any type of G Code can be imported and edited.
Support for different types of controllers.
Can generate G Code for different type of controllers, like Galil, Beckhoff, Siemens, Kuka Robot, etc.
Segment customization
Possibility to set the specific G commands and process parameters for each segment
FEA Export
Possibility to export data for FEA analysis software packages (MSC Nastran, EsaComp, Abaqus).

Software and hardware requirements
- Windows 7, 8.1 or 10
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- OpenGL capable graphic card is recommended
- One free USB port for the dongle
